Michael S. Bailey, MD

Dr. Michael Bailey joined Birmingham Heart Clinic as an electrophysiologist in 2008.

Originally from Church Hill, Tennessee, Dr. Bailey earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and physics at East Tennessee State University and attended medical school at the University of Tennessee.  Following graduation from medical school, Dr. Bailey attended the University of Florida for his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiology.  During his cardiology fellowship, he was awarded the Young Investigator Award in Women’s Health.  He also completed an additional fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology.  While training at the University of Florida, Dr. Bailey had the opportunity to work as a medical support physician with NASA during launches and landings for a number of shuttle missions.

In 2003, Dr. Bailey began a cardiac electrophysiology practice in Nashville, Tennessee.  While in Nashville, he also founded a practice called Nashville Arrhythmia Consultants, where he practiced until he joined Birmingham Heart Clinic.

Dr. Bailey is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and cardiac electrophysiology. His medical interests include arrhythmias, device therapy for congestive failure, clinical research and teaching. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and Heart Rhythm Society.

Dr. Bailey and his wife, Jennifer, have four children.  Dr. Bailey is an avid football fan and loves running, cycling and music.
